Sign in with Microsoft

LiveMicrosoft · checked 2026-10-20

In use against real customer accounts.

What it does

  • Lets an invited technician sign in with their Microsoft work account instead of a separate password.
  • Confirms an invitation on the spot, so a new technician does not have to set a temporary password first.
  • Can let people from your Microsoft tenant join your organisation as staff, if the account owner turns that on.

How it connects

It is a button on the sign-in page, and needs nothing set up by you beyond inviting the person.

What it reads and writes

  • Reads: the signed-in person's own name and work email address from Microsoft.
  • It does not read their mail, calendar or files.
  • It never creates an account by itself. The person must already be invited.

Limits you should know about

  • RemediateDesk's own authenticator-app check still applies after Microsoft signs you in.
  • New organisations are currently by invitation, so the button cannot be used to start a fresh organisation.
  • Only Microsoft work and school accounts are offered. Personal Microsoft accounts are not.

Setting it up

  1. Invite the technician from user management.
  2. They choose Continue with Microsoft on the sign-in page.
  3. Optionally, the account owner enables automatic joining for your Microsoft tenant in settings.
